According to a recent report by the Monterey Herald, a 22 year-old Sunnyvale man found himself in pretty hot water last week after being arrested for allegedly robbing, and threatening minor children.
Officers said the incident took place as the victims were walking along a stretch of East Duane Ave, in the early-evening hours. The children, whose names have not been made public, said that is when the robber walked up to them and ordered them to hand over any and all cash they had on hand. As if that weren’t frightening enough, the suspect then pulled up his shirt to show his victims what they believed to be a weapon.
One of the victims complied– the suspect then turned around and made a run for it. Police were contacted immediately, according to the report, and the youth were able to provide an accurate description of the man who held them up. Officers spotted him a short time later and arrested him on the spot. Santa Clara County jail records indicate that the suspect, Felix Chavez, remains in custody on $50,000 bail bonds. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Sept. 16.
