Sources within the Santa Clara County Jail have confirmed that a total of five suspects have been booked into custody after a high-speed chase.
San Jose Police Department officials said the suspect vehicle matched the description of one that may have been used in a weekend homicide. The vehicle was spotted driving on Interstate 680, they said, and officers quickly flashed their lights and tried to get the driver to pull over.
The driver, however, laid on the gas; police officials said someone tossed a gun out of one of the car’s windows.
Several agencies became involved in the chase, they said, which at times reached speeds between 80 and 100 miles an hour. The suspect vehicle eventually sustained damage to one of its tires causing all of the rubber to shred off.
Police officials said the driver was left with no choice but to pull over. Five people were arrested the scene, they said, and the handgun was eventually recovered.
