Members of the Los Gatos Police Department have responded to a myriad of calls in the past several weeks. Below is a compiled list of several of the incident reports.
Officers say a man was arrested and transported to the San Jose jail for violating a domestic violence restraining order. Bail information was not immediately available although it is believed to have been set between $20,000 and $30,000. The defendant has since been released from custody. It is unclear whether he or a member of his family reached out to an expert Santa Clara bondsman in order to purchase a bond.
Several instances of petty theft were also reported. The first took place on Feb. 17. Two additional reports were filed four days later. It is not believed the thefts are related. Those suspects remains at large.
Two mail thefts were reported during that same week, with the first taking place on Feb. 11 and the second on Feb. 19. Stealing mail is a federal offense. Defendants who are arrested and charged with this crime will not be able to hire a regular Santa Clara bondsman to help get them out of jail. They will instead need to reach out to a company that specializes in federal bail bonds.
At least three people were booked into the San Jose jail after being charged with public intoxication. Those defendants have since been released on their own recognizance. Persons who are charged with minor crimes often do not need to hire an expert bondsman in order to be released from custody.
Court information for those arrested was not immediately available.
