Jails all over the state are feeling the squeeze of the state’s inmate realignment program and many have needed to release inmates early due to overcrowding.
Joseph Luna is among those who were release before his sentence is over, and now, he’s back in custody at the Santa Clara County Jail.
Authorities say the Morgan Hill man was taken into custody on drug possession charges and for having for two outstanding warrants. The first related to violated a restraining order, while the second was for violating the terms of his release.
They also speculate he may be tied to an attempted burglary that took place last Thursday night. Officers received a call about an alarm that was going off, and when they arrived, they saw Luna fleeing from the property.
He was arrested on the spot and is currently being held without bail and is ineligible to post bail bonds.
A police spokesperson said they’re also investigating whether he may have been involved in another burglary that took place on June 17.
