Freemont PD Captain Jim White has returned from a 10 week training session at the FBI training camp. A Department spokesperson said White is the second member of the Freemont PD to receive the invite. His superiors have acknowledged that receiving the invite to train in Quantico, VA is a tremendous accomplishment on its own.
A total of 264 students attended the FBI’s 249th training session. Students were graded for their work and classes covered topics ranging from physical fitness to police work. The academy said that White was among an elite group of students who received all A’s.
In addition to classwork, attendees were invited to test their mental prowess by overcoming an obstacle course known as the Yellow Brick Road. The news-messenger.com said the Yellow Brick Road is a 6.1-mile hiking course which was specially designed by the U.S. Marines. Travelers need to climb walls, maneuver obstacles, wade through creeks, traverse barbed wire and run through varied terrain as they travel toward the course’s finish line. Those who successfully complete the challenge receive a yellow brick plaque.
White said his hangs proudly on the wall in his office and that he truly enjoyed the challenge of his training at Quantico. He is hopeful he will be allowed to return again in the future.
